Event Description

The Seventh Annual Petite Sirah Symposium has moved to a new location.

On Tuesday, August 4, 2009 the Seventh Annual Petite Sirah Symposium for grape growers and winemakers has moved from Foppiano Vineyards to Concannon Vineyard in Livermore Valley.

This change in venue is very poignant, because Jim Concannon was the very first winemaker to varietally label Petite Sirah. It's very appropriate that the Petite Symposium has found this new home. Concannon Vineyard has just finalized an over $30 million renovation, with part of that project being dedicated to a new learning center. Because of Jim Concannon's contribution to the cultivar, he's recognized within the PS I Love You group as Petite Sirah's Godfather. This is such a perfect location and venue.

Each year, on behalf of Petite Sirah, this event gathers the best and the brightest Petite Sirah growers, winemakers, and producers. Topics traditionally include aspects of wine growing, wine making, and the marketing of Petite Sirah. Because this year's event is going to be held at a much larger venue, the program has been expanded to include a media PS tasting after lunch in Concannon's new barrel room. The Symposium is still going strong as it approaches its seventh year of fostering the best expression of this noble variety.

The day will include lunch, prior to the afternoon media event. This informal gathering of wine principles is also a highlight of the day, as growers and producers explore each others' Petite Sirahs.

For all of you wine writers, bloggers, or trade people who want to explore the depths of PS out there, you'll have about 40 winemakers all pouring their Petites for you, and another 40 wine growers, all available to talk with you about their passion... Petite Sirah. This is one event you don't want to miss. Just let me know that you're interested, and I'll send you more details. This is an incredible opportuity for anyone who wants to have so many winemakers and growers in one location for interviews and tastings, without any other distractions... Just one-on-one with many, many masters. It's win-win, or wine-wine... Whatever works for you!

Okay, Tom. I now get it. Great!

Consider yourself in and part of the day's gathering. See you then!

Jo,

My thinking was to talk to vintners at the Livermore tasting about doing one of my walk around tastings at our "clubhouse" in SF later in the year. We always try to have the vintners. You'll remember that you sent out a request to your members a year ago to participate and only John Monnich replied positively (he subsequently did come over and pour at one of our events) . http://www.meetup.com/BayArea-Wine-Society/calendar/past_list/.

Tell me if you need samples for an event and how many you'd need. I can save you some jingle.

Also, would you be coming out that day. I'm not entirely clear if you'll be doing that, or setting something up yourself in the SF Bay Area.

Thanks, Jo [spelling corrected], for offering the tasting component to OWC members. I will use the occasion to see if I might set up a tasting for the Bay Area Wine Society. We have to continue to spread the gospel....

China Market

Our company is opening channels into China for exporting wine. We are able to tap an unique market for distribution but also delving into the regular market. High volume is mandatory, but we have an order for a smaller exploratory shipment. If you have a slate of bottles that you think would work well, please contact me if your wineries want to take part. Looking for low end and high end bottles. State-side or abroad. I would be happy to answer any questions via…

Looking to buy cheap wine for China

Hello!

My company is based out of California and specializes in exporting and distributing wine to China.

We are currently looking for any Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot wines that fall in the $1-4/bottle price range for a client that wants 1 small order and one much larger bulk order.

If anyone with bottled and labeled wine in this price range and is interested in exporting to China don't hesitate to contact me. Also, if you just have general questions,…
