Let's have a spot online, outside of the MOW website, to chat, share study techniques, find terrific source material - all things we need for the exam! This can also serve as a spot to post information about upcoming tasting opportunities.

Glad to see others have found this group! Sorry to be away - was studying for the exam. I agree, practice exams are the best way for the practical. And for essays, I'm willing to share mine to get some real feedback. After the exam, I'm still at about a C or D grade I'm afraid!

The best part of the exam? 8 Pinot Noirs from 3 countries! Fun!

Hey guys - just found you online through ablegrape - Doug I've been using in non-stop as an MW research tool. I know we're all over the place, but maybe we could alternate posting one essay topic a week to write and then we could all upload our answers here. Would be a good way to share information!

Test questions are good but the tasting component,Oofa! How can you keep it straight? I wonder what the percentages of right answers are when testers taste. 50%? 40%?

I think that nothing replaces actually learning the material.

However, an invaluable part of preparing for an examination is taking practice exams. We did this when preparing for medical boards. It not only was a way to refresh and reorganize information, but also was a way to get us thinking about the way the questions might be asked on the "real deal".

While the entity that operates US medical licensing exams releases a set of "retired" test questions, there were many compendiums of questions people remembered from taking the tests.

I'd like to see this group create a similar resource - not for the purpose of beating the odds but because these questions can be very helpful study and test prep tools.

If anyone is interested, perhaps we can create a dedicated spot here on the OWC just for that. I have alsready posed the same question to the SWE group.

I've been contemplating MS or MW. Leaning towards MW. Thanks for creating a forum! I live in the Portland area so I won't be able to attend places in the LA area, but would love to share info regarding the program in general.

When is the tasting? I got to hand it to you, the amount of time to do the work for your MW is awesome, so how do you do it? How was the WSET test, good prep?
