Comment by tom merle on April 17, 2008 at 7:51am: While Derek is right, he is only partially right. One way to build an organization is to start an awards program which can be very understated at the beginning. Tiffany Shlain launched the Webbys without any organization; now look at it.

Then, too, it's meant to serve as a device for acknowledging major achievements--no "best of" (singlular), just ~Best Practices~.

Comment by Derek on April 11, 2008 at 6:20am: I am loving the energy all round this site, but I did smile and frown at once when I saw that by far and away the most popular group in the nascent effort was the awards group. Lots and lots of building to do before we should be concerned about how to pat ourselves on the back I am thinking. Just a thought amidst much grooviness...

Second, I'm relatively ambivalent about awards, but also open-minded enough to think that there may be a better mouse trap.

Third, someone tell me how to use the group and its many separate forum locations. If you want my first suggestion...nah, you don't need me telling you about the Internet ;)
