Hi, I'm new here, I'm curious about Stormhoek wines. Did you taste them? How are they? I think you can't find them in Italy, can you?
Have a nice day!

A lot of the comments that we receive internationally tend to refer to South African red wines. For Fairview wines it is perhaps understandable as we produce more red wines than whites. However the debate and (seemingly) the consensus is that South Africa's white wines are currently of a better quality than our reds. This seems to be a strong sentiment in the UK amongst journalists and wine writers. The competitions and show results don't necessarily support this thinking, but they aren't really the most reliable measure of quality are they now! What do you think? Are good quality SA white wines available?

I have recently several South African wines that I can recommend.
Anura Syrah/Mourvidre, a rich spicy wine.
Anura Melot, a hint of herbal and violet aromas.
Avontuur Shiraz, a hint of ripe purple plums.
And of course Dominion Big Red, Pruney fruit with a touch of spice.

Hi Richard,
That sounds like a great selection of wines. I have tried a few wines from Cederberg of late and they are fantastic, and at good value. And it is a beautiful part of South Africa on top of that!

I am cohosting a wine dinner month, and I chose the wines for the event. I went with a South African theme and these are the wines I selected.

2007 Cederberg Chenin Blanc
2007 Boekenhoutskloof Wolftrap
2007 Southern Right Pinotage
2005 Radford Dale Shiraz

I was a bit limited in my choices as I could only select from a limited number of distributors and within a certain price range.

It's been a while since I've been to South Africa now. Should consider a holiday over there again. I've been drinking and tasting SA wines for about 25 years now. With my sister and brother-in-law living in the Joburg area, both wine enthusiasts, it's rather easy to catch up with news and stuff. A couple of days ago I opened a Galpin Peak Pinot Noir 1999 from Bouchard-Finlayson with a couple of friends. Who says SA wines have no ageing potential after an overseas transport? My last bottle of Kanonkop Cabernet Sauvignon 1991, opened just a couple of months ago, could have lasted some more. We're lucky to have a couple of specialized SA-wine shops here in Belgium. Galtraco in Antwerp has been my favourite shop for 25 years.

I visited Capetown in January of 2005. I was there for school so I didn't get to go to many vineyards, but the one we did get to was Warwick Estate. They had some awesome wine. One though that stuck out in my mind was called Three Cape Ladies. It's a meritage, but after searching for it in the states I finally found it on winelibrary.com, as well as in a wine store in NYC. If you can get your hands on it, then do try it's completely worth it.

China Market

Our company is opening channels into China for exporting wine. We are able to tap an unique market for distribution but also delving into the regular market. High volume is mandatory, but we have an order for a smaller exploratory shipment. If you have a slate of bottles that you think would work well, please contact me if your wineries want to take part. Looking for low end and high end bottles. State-side or abroad. I would be happy to answer any questions via…

Looking to buy cheap wine for China

Hello!
