89 Project Developments

Third, Marshall at WineQ is considering giving The 89 Project participants a big discount on 89 rated wines. His hope is that our reviews (no preconditions, people, I promise) will help him sell his business model to wineries. It will create an interesting experiment, seeing how a whole bunch of wine bloggers review something that got an 89.

That leads to the last development, really a question. Are you interested, in addition to just cross-posting 89 rated wines, in an "assignment," where we all try the same wine at about the same time. I would love to see us pick a few different wines over time. Maybe we could start with some little-known bottle from a less well-regarded region, one that just might have received a "I can't believe this is that good, but I can't give this unknown $12 bottle 90+ points" 89. Then we could try a "I'm pretty disappointed by this big name high price great location cult bottle, so I'm going to drop an 89 on it" 89. Let me know what you think.
