Hi - our new W&W www.womenwine.com site launching in late July will publish (for free) all charitable events or winery info regarding philanthropy - with pics

We will also be giving a place to publish food & wine charitable events so that if you are solicited by an organization that wants a wine donation you can tell them that they can contact us about posting their event.

I'd love to be a resource for getting the word out about the good things that the wine industry does everyday.

Wine Gives and The San Francisco Food Bank partner to turn wine into food

Wine Gives Announces Online Wine Sale to raise money for The San Francisco Food Bank

June 19, 2008 – Sonoma County, CA – Wine Industry philanthropy collective, Wine Gives, announced today that it has organized a 5-day online wine sale to benefit The San Francisco Food Bank, beginning Saturday, June 21 through Wednesday, June 25.

Wineries participating in the event include Humanitas Wines of Napa, California; Iron Horse Winery of Sebastopol, California; Michel-Schlumberger of Healdsburg, California and Pengwine of Chile. For each bottle sold at www.thewinespies.com, The Wine Spies and the wineries will each donate at least $1.00 per bottle sold, directly to The San Francisco Food Bank. Wine Gives does not accept any fees for its service and 100% of the funds raised go directly to the charities it supports.

The Wine Spies, LLC, Founding Partner, Agent Red, says, “As an original founder of Wine Gives I am thrilled to see the direction that the organization is taking. By coordinating fund raising programs for the wine industry, Wine Gives has created marketplaces where consumers can buy great wines while also doing good for a number of charitable causes. This is a 5-way win-win situation: The consumer wins by getting a great wine at a great price while doing good, the winery wins, the retailer wins and – most importantly – the charity and its beneficiaries win. The Wine Spies are thrilled to host this fund raiser, providing needed funds to The San Francisco Food Bank.”

Judd Wallenbrock, owner of Humanitas Wines, says, “Our mission is to make great wine and donate profits to organizations that are committed to ending hunger, provide affordable housing and abolish illiteracy. When we asked Wine Gives to join us in support of The San Francisco Food Bank, they quickly brought The Wine Spies and three additional fine wineries to support the cause. We are happy to partner with these organizations to raise funds and awareness for the Food Bank.”

San Francisco Food Bank Executive Director Paul Ash stated, “This is a tremendous promotion and it couldn’t come at a better time. With high food prices squeezing more and more people, we’re glad that Wine Gives, the Wine Spies and the participating winemakers have stepped up to meet the challenge.”

About The San Francisco Food Bank
The San Francisco Food Bank collects donated food from growers, manufacturers and grocers, then distributes it to people in need through food pantries, soup kitchens, child care centers, homeless shelters, senior centers and other human service agencies with meal programs. The San Francisco Food Bank will distribute 31 million pounds of food this year to hungry people in San Francisco.

About Wine Gives
Wine Gives is a growing collective of wine industry leaders that band together to support important charities and organizations that promote the health, education, and well being of people in need. Wine Gives does not accept charitable contributions, nor does it collect any administrative fees for its services. One hundred percent of funds raised during sales events go to the respective charities. To date, Wine Gives wineries and retail partners have raised money for The Susan G. Komen Foundation, The American Red Cross, The Marine Mammal Foundation, The Diabetes Association, Share our Strength, The Puente Project and many others. Wine Gives was originally founded by Jason Seeber and Brandon Stauber of The Wine Spies, LLC and is open to all wine retailers, wineries and wine distributors.

About The Wine Spies, LLC
Currently in its second year as an innovative online wine retailer and wine marketing company, The Wine Spies, a fully licensed specialty wine retailer, features one exceptional wine each day on its website, www.thewinespies.com. The Wine Spies have built a successful enterprise by recruiting thousands of loyal Operatives (their customers) that visit the site each day to check the day’s wine and associated “mission briefing”.
