It's been a long time coming, but Wine by the Bar finally has an iPhone app! Although the original Android version is still out there, the new design is much truer to my original vision of being that bridge between wine lover and wine world. The Android just didn't have enough traction to take any ideas from theory to confirmation. (Android version gets some loving starting in November.)

As tribute to OWC, I thought I'd extend the initial offer here: Do you have a favorite blogger that would want to try leveraging the iPhone app for connecting with their readers? Maybe you're one yourself?

One of the core tenets of Wine by the Bar is to not get in the way of destination branding. Customer stores can go as far as getting their own logo on the home screen and exclusive news&events. So while it is a generic app and can be used in any restaurant, tasting, etc. the branding to your dedicated fans is yours.

Bloggers too get some very useful features for signing up. For example, their reviews for a wine can link to a webpage. This could be their blog or even directly to their affiliate's site (including their ID for tracking). Again, Wine by the Bar's mission is to just be a facilitator of the connection.

Sound interesting? In theory, right? So go download the free app and give it a spin. (Note that the next release will have some refinements geared towards store, winery, and blogger discovery.) Then point you're favorite blogger to it and have them try. Anyone interested testing some features in this invite-only stage, please contact me: winebythebar on twitter, or email thomasmckay at winebythebar.com (or through OWC).

Many thanks for all the support over the past two years as I took my first steps into the wine world.

Hi all -
I think you'll be intrigued by the work our company has undertaken. eProvenance is working to assure ideal temperature conditions for the transport and storage of fine wine during worldwide distribution. Using our RFID temperature sensors and online monitoring system, we are assessing the quality of global fine wine shipment conditions. Our goal is to help establish fine wine cold chains in which proper temperature conditions are maintained. We work with producers, importers, distributors, transporters, all members of the distribution chain, and currently have clients in Bordeaux, Burgundy, California and the UK.

We've researched the impact of high temperatures on the quality of fine wine, and we've established Wine Provenance Collaboratives in Bordeaux and Napa/Sonoma to map the performance of the global wine distribution channels in order to understand and improve conditions, share best practices, and provide the ability to authenticate high-quality provenance.

Take a look at my OWC page to for more info on our research and our technology. Or check out our web site at www.eprovenance.com

I welcome your questions, comments, feedback!

Because wine is so influenced by its geography, maps are the perfect way to present information about wine and vineyards. WineMap is a very comprehensive website with advanced features specific to the wine industry. Through WineMap the world is open to each and every winemaker and farmer. To date, WineMap has compiled data for Sonoma County, the State of Oregon and Napa's Stags Leap District. we look forward to mapping your region next.

China Market

Our company is opening channels into China for exporting wine. We are able to tap an unique market for distribution but also delving into the regular market. High volume is mandatory, but we have an order for a smaller exploratory shipment. If you have a slate of bottles that you think would work well, please contact me if your wineries want to take part. Looking for low end and high end bottles. State-side or abroad. I would be happy to answer any questions via…

Looking to buy cheap wine for China

Hello!

My company is based out of California and specializes in exporting and distributing wine to China.

We are currently looking for any Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot wines that fall in the $1-4/bottle price range for a client that wants 1 small order and one much larger bulk order.

If anyone with bottled and labeled wine in this price range and is interested in exporting to China don't hesitate to contact me. Also, if you just have general questions,…
