- About my company:
- MICHAELDATTA Vineyards (MDV) is all about growing great fruit and producing high quality wines from our little 35 acres in Eden Valley, South Australia.
We are very passionate to say the least about the region, Eden Valley and our old vines that produce the densely rich, flavoursome fruit varieties, which are turned into highly rated, award winning wines.
MDV consists of the oldest registered Riesling vines in South Australia (over 110+ yrs old). The property also consists of:
* 40+ yr old Riesling - Additonal to the old vine Riesling.
* 35+ yr old Chardonnay - The premium fruit is sourced from a mate's property down the road, which is cropped under 1 tonne to the acre.
* 15+ yr old Cabernet Franc
* 25+ yr old Merlot
* 40+ yr old Shiraz
* 40+ yr old Cabernet Sauvignon
* 100+ yr old Grenache - This fruit from a neighbouring vineyard. This is then made into the super premium Jack Raj - Shiraz Grenache blend and also into a straight 100% Old Vine Grenache and Vintage Port.

- A greater understanding of what's happening internationally with wine. I also see this as an opportunity to communicate with other like minded people about our love of wine.
- About Me:
- Michael first started turning his passion for wine into working reality back in 1992 when he first started visiting the Hunter Valley at the ripe young age off 22. At that time he fell in love with all aspects of wine; from growing the grapes,making the wine and then actually selling it.
Michael knew one day he would move away from what was then a corporate career and dedicate his life and future goals to producing excellent grapes, supporting small growers and producing high-end, top quality wines.
In 2000, the first stage of achieving his end goal became reality. Michael left the lucrative world of consulting/recruitment and set up a small wine business consulting firm. This business simply gave boutique wineries what they wanted; which was end-to-end business services covering, vineyards, winemaking, and sales & marketing.
Since 2000, Michael has assisted numerous boutique wineries achieve their goals and gain a true commercial understanding of where their businesses stood. This took Michael further into working with grape growers, attaining them better prices for their grapes and also looking at the possibility of launching their own brands in the future.
With so much involvement in vineyards, it made perfect sense to Michael to take ownership and accountability in his own vineyards, while building a strong co-operative of high-end grape growers. After travelling and researching vineyards across the country, Michael knew that the only place for him was Eden Valley, South Australia. Michael will continue to lovingly grow his grapes and produce high quality wines with his team for many years to come.

My company is based out of California and specializes in exporting and distributing wine to China.
