Best Syrah in 2011 – 2008 Cornas by Thierry Allemand, Cornas, Northern Rhone

Human memory is anything but perfect. In fact it is one of the most fallible of human organs there is. In hindsight we clear out memories we do not like any more. We add and subtract from it, we construct stories which never happened in the first place; we make sense where there was none before. Our memory seems to possess an independent creativity that bears only a passing resemblance to actual events. That’s why wine geeks keep tasting notes, isn’t it? But even if we do, aren’t we deceiving…See More

The five best Riesling wines of 2010

Riesling the queen of white wineWell, let’s be clear from the outset: this is not the result of an orderly wine tasting. I am reminiscing about the most remarkable Rieslings I drank in 2010. The five wines below are the ones I selected, and I call them “my best Rieslings in 2010 – the Man from the Mosel selection”.As you might know, any recall from memory about events past is a tricky and…See More

Almost lost - the bushfire inferno in Victoria

In the current wildfires in Victoria, we have almost lost our vineyard. The inferno claimed many lives and that is much more serious than any property damage. Our condolences go to all families who have lost loved ones in the tragedy.

Our house and the vineyard were only saved because of the courage and the interference of local firemen who saves us from loosing our property. The fire went through our place it seems, our little wood was burned down but not the vines. The true heroes are the firemen, the paramedics, and the ambos. It will take some time until the many rural people who have lost family members, houses and businesses will have rebuilt their livelihoods.

The next weeks will show if there is a 2009 vintage at Two Hills Vineyard at all. We will certainly continue with our grape and wine production. We thanks all our family and friends who kept us up to date on the events on the ground and helped to ease our pain and the anxiety we felt being so powerless vis a vis the forces of nature.

I am very excited. Recently, I was invited to the above event. From November 14 to 16, 2011 the Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) in Chiang Mai, Thailand will host the 3rd International Symposium on Tropical Wine.

It will be the most significant gathering of wine experts, scientists, vintners and wine drinkers here in tropical Asia. Thailand is maybe the best developed producer of new…

Hi Rainer,
Yes, the wines are available in Vic. Vintage Cellars and First Choice Stores have access to 3 of the wines and various Restaurants have our wines listed. Berth Restaurant at Southbank is one such Restaurant. I can have Angie (our Vic Rep) contact you to drop off some wines if you'd like!

Dear Rainer

I have only recently joined the openwineconsortium.

In my site www.winetourismspain.com we have a wine Photo Atlas that contains nearly 400 pictures. We have put together this section with the contribution from many participants to our 1st wine photo contest.

I contact you because I know sometimes it is difficult to find pictures for some posts. In case you would like to use any of the photos from our photo Atlas please feel free to do so. I hope this will help you and that you will enjoy the photos… and we would be very greatful if you mention our site.

Thank you

Luis

Hi Adam,
Thanks for the positive reply. I really appreciated that!
The beautiful thing about "wine lovers" (like ourselves) is that most of the time we can find ways to help each other. If you take a look at www.thewinehub.com you will see that we have a vast range of opportunities for that...
Do you have a wine-related subject in mind that you want to write about? You can take a look at the blogs that were already posted to hav an idea of what is going on...
By the way, I'll need your e-mail address in order to send you the instructions on how to get started.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Best,
LA

Looking for low end and high end bottles. State-side or abroad. I would be happy to answer any questions via…

My company is based out of California and specializes in exporting and distributing wine to China.

We are currently looking for any Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot wines that fall in the $1-4/bottle price range for a client that wants 1 small order and one much larger bulk order.

If anyone with bottled and labeled wine in this price range and is interested in exporting to China don't hesitate to contact me. Also, if you just have general questions,…
