This seems a natural legislative initiative for Family Winemakers of CA, set up specifically to further the interests of smaller (and not so small) producers. Every channel must be exploited. I wonder if they are working on it (Wine Institute is…

With regard to CA and the "marketing agent" issue, what's necessary is a new type of license to address the reality of Internet commerce. The marketing agent model, used by a number of companies, can be a vital way for wineries to…

I wrote this before seeing this letter which really does throw a monkey wrench in the works: TO: All Virginia Licensed Shippers FROM: Francis J. Monahan, Director, Bureau of Law Enforcement SUBJECT: UNAUTHORIZED PRACTICES DATE: July 22nd, 2009 In…

Your diatribe seems as though it was written before most of the states put regs in place to allow direct shipment of wines. What you are seeking seems to be in place for the most part, retailers notwithstanding. There will be some hold outs, but…

Who are the writers that focus on bringing the attention to the rules and regulations so as to help the industry overall grow and not have the lid kept on the growth by old laws and rules? Thanks.

Virginia continues to persecute the Farm Wineries - to what goal?

If it was not bad enough when our legislators took away the ability to self distribute by just building another layer of cost and bureaucracy in to our system they now appear hell bent on preventing service providers/marketing agents from helping us grow our businesses as well. Two recent circulars to direct shippers and Virginia Farm Wineries again make an attack on any innovation that we want to deploy in our business. It is hard enough for self distribution that we now have to deliver to the…See More

California legislators can only do so much. They are able to craft legislation that effects shipments of wine inside california, not outside california. What they could do not only to help californians and the state is to pass legislation that…

I think the industry has run themselves down and have become apathetic to the whole issue and now all the smaller players ship illegally or have someone do it for them. As was seen California by the ABC's own admission, they cannot touch anyone…

Regulations are and will remain a reality. The question that needs to be taken up by legislators and stakeholders is how can the regulation of the distribution of alcohol best be designed so as to benefit the industry, the consumer and the interests…

State Liquor Control Boards Attack Innovation – legislators stand and watch!

Quite interesting really that millions of dollars of wine ships illegally around the country, if it did not many of our small producers and retailers would struggle more than they do already. Ironic as it is, by not having licenses to ship there is little anyone can do against these shippers. Now if they get a license and make a minor error then the regulators come down on them hard and heavy. A permit system is okay so as to control who gets to sell wine and have a mechanism for collecting…See More

China Market

Our company is opening channels into China for exporting wine. We are able to tap an unique market for distribution but also delving into the regular market. High volume is mandatory, but we have an order for a smaller exploratory shipment. If you have a slate of bottles that you think would work well, please contact me if your wineries want to take part. Looking for low end and high end bottles. State-side or abroad. I would be happy to answer any questions via…

Looking to buy cheap wine for China

Hello!

My company is based out of California and specializes in exporting and distributing wine to China.

We are currently looking for any Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot wines that fall in the $1-4/bottle price range for a client that wants 1 small order and one much larger bulk order.

If anyone with bottled and labeled wine in this price range and is interested in exporting to China don't hesitate to contact me. Also, if you just have general questions,…
