I had a chance to visit the famous
Caduceus cellars on my resent wine road trip. Actually our hotel in Jerome was right next door to the tasting room, and our room was literally right above the bar. You may have heard of this winery more than any other

winery in Arizona. Why, because it is owned by a famous rocker James Maynard Keenan from the band Tool. As a teenager in the 1990's everyone knew about Tool. They made their big splash on the rock/metal/alternative music scene during my high school years. I cannot say I was a fan. I'm not into crazy high octane, experimental music, but someone whom I spent alot of time with and eventually married was a fan. So I got schooled in everything
Tool
and Maynard upon going on this little trip.
As someone who is into wine, I am not a fan of celeb wines. They just put their name on the bottle and know it is going to sell, so they don't care too much about what is inside. Plus, they have fat wallets to spend on marketing and grapes that the little guys just can't match. Often the little guys are more passionate about their craft and make some truly amazing wines that sadly no one drinks because consumers are too busy drinking mass produced wine with pretty labels but low quality. However, Caduceus made a believer out of me, and now I can say I am a fan.
I had watched the documentary, "Blood into Wine," mainly because I have always been a fan of Page Springs Cellars, which is
Eric Glomski's winery. Eric is James' mentor and business partner. Plus, it just sounded interesting and hey they were talking about Arizona wines but in a positive light so why not give it a go. If you do watch this, you are in for a treat, it is very informative about the whole Arizona wine scene, but just has that weird rocker twist and angle. It gives you a nice background if you do visit any of the three wineries that are owned by either Eric or Maynard.
