A Quick Way to Keep Up on the Top Wine Blog Discussions...All on One Page

Just read about a new blog aggregator site called Alltop in the WSJ.com Small Business section. Alltop displays the last five posts from the top blogs in select topics on a single aggregation page.

Here's a link to the wine page:
http://wine.alltop.com

You'll find blogs from several OWC members including LENNDEVOURS, Fermentation, Dr. Vino, and Catavino.

Don't forget lil' ol' me too (The Wine Conversation)

:)

Actually there are quite a few more members of the OWC on that site I believe. An interesting model for aggregating content, but still (hopefully) driving traffic to the sites.

Yes, of course! Sorry for any oversights...I believe that the site will still drive traffic similar to the way rss feeds might, but please let me know if I'm incorrect on this. I wouldn't want to promote a site that took away blog traffic from OWC members and other wine bloggers, just thought this was a site to keep on our radar. :)

no problem re omission - just teasing!

well, the problem with aggregators is that they claim to drive traffic, but if they take your entire feed, why would readers bother to click through? Essentially they could reduce inward traffic by mirroring content and therefore diverting potential readers.

What I like about Alltop (beyond the quirky design) is that it gives you a snapshot of the content of the post and the site, but not TOO much, and encourages you to click through, or at least does not discourage you from doing so.

Still some to do on being able to find stuff of interest to a particular reader on that site, but worth browsing through if bored or looking for inspiration

I agree, it only gives a "tease" of the posts and I'm hoping will drive new readers to the listed blog sites. For me, it makes visiting my favorites more convenient by housing the sites on one page for me to click through versus clicking individually via bookmarks.

I don't know that many people know about it though, I haven't gotten any hits, and last time I checked I was listed.

Thanks,

This is actually pretty handy.

We've been getting a small trickle of hits from Alltop. Hopefully the traffic will increase as their exposure grows. I think it's pretty cool that it was on WSJ.com!

We're (El Bloggo Torcido) getting a trickle too. I'm just digging being listed higher than "The Pour" ;)

Hi Fil, I'm afraid I was only posting the aggregator as an FYI and don't own it. I'm going to check your site out now though!
